Mariajose Silva Vargas

Mariajose Silva-Vargas has been visiting the IIES for several periods since 2018. She is a PhD Fellow at Maastricht University and UNU-MERIT, and a RSM Fellow at DIME - World Bank for the period 2021 – 2022. Previously, she worked in Uganda and Tanzania for several years managing impact evaluations for the World Bank & Innovations for Poverty Action. She uses field experiments to answer socio-economic questions in low- and middle-income countries, and her research focuses on the integration of refugees and complex constraints in land markets. She also combines her photography work with research, and is co-founder of BOWEN - Bolivian Women in Economics Network.
